Andrea Nicolette Gonzales lives and works in San Francisco, California. After completing her bachelors degree from Texas Wesleyan University she worked as a makeup artist and was asked to face paint for a Dia De Los Metros event; which let to her fascinating exploration of the three-dimensional surface of the face and body. She attended San Francisco Art Institute and graduated with a Masters of Fine Arts degree in 2016. While in graduate school she was awarded the Murphy and Cadogan art award while being named one of the top emerging artist in the Bay Area. After graduating in 2016, Andrea began teaching art and photography at Mission High School where founded a photography department. In 2022 she was awarded a SFAC grant and an Arts Ambassador Award from SFUSD. Her work from her 2022 SFAC grant was selected to be part of the 2023 Deyoung Open.
